                                                 Fact

State Registration For All Passenger Carrying Motor Carriers

Members of The Florida Intrastate Transportation Alliance have been unsuccessfully pushing for State Registration of all passenger transportation motor carriers that will help ensure that smaller communities with no local regulators in place are offered the same benefits as the metro areas & to free up the multiple licensing that inhibits intercounty transportation. So far our efforts have fallen on deaf ears with politicos like Victor Crist more interested in passing legislation that regulates the towing of vehicles instead of passenger safety & Rich Glorioso's fabulous Bill that will encourage Terrorist to pay Tampa a visit during special events instead of tightening security .

FITA Supports

  • Fingerprinted Background Checks On Every Driver Transporting Passengers.
  • Uniformed Minimum Liability Insurance.
  • Specialty Front & Rear Florida Tags On Vehicles-For-Hire.
  • State/FDOT Inspection Of Vehicles.
  • State Preemption & Enforcement Of, No Local Restrictions Or Economic Regulation On State Registered Limousines & Small Buses Entering Jurisdictions For The Sole Purpose Of Providing Intercounty Transportation For Prearranged / Chartered Passengers.
  • No Local Pricing Controls On Privately Owned Businesses Not Under Contract With Government Pursuant To Florida Law.

Why Doesn't Leaders Of Local Limo Associations & State Directors Of The NLA & TLPA Support This Position?

Opposition To State Registration

The State of Florida has no less than 6 sitting board members of the NLA & TLPA the 2 most powerful National Associations representing the limousine & taxicab industry.

They have the power to influence change in the State but have done nothing other than  protecting their own wallets to the detriment of the consumer.

These Board Members enjoy the benefits derived from local regulators which places minimum pricing & restricts market entry that limits the competition.

Why Was The NLA's Lobbyist In Tallahassee Seeking Support To Pull Overtime Wages From Driver's & Not To End The Repetitive Licensing Choking Intercounty Transportation?

How About The Limo Division Of The TLPA Pulling Support To Work On Convincing The Feds To Declare That Contracts & Trip Tickets Fall Under Thru-Ticketing & Therefore Placing All Transfers Under The Interstate Commerce Blanket? Because These Illustrious Industry Leaders Would Lose Local Economic Regulatory Protection?

February 2008, the GM for NLA Director owned Julies Limousine stands in front of the Hillsborough Commission to oppose new market entrants.

  • Market Entry Restrictions
  • Pricing Controls
  • Restraint Of Trade
  • Monopolizing Interstate Transportation Hubs
